Privacy Policy
Effective August 23, 2026 · Last updated August 25, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Front Porch Florida ("Front Porch," "we," "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you visit readfrontporch.com, use our Progressive Web App, or join Front Porch Florida staff alerts. This page is public and is not gated by login or middleware.
1. Who we are
Front Porch Florida is a Florida news edition. Contact: hello@readfrontporch.com · (850) 555-7672 · Florida, United States.
2. Information we collect
- You give us: an email address when you join the morning list; a mobile number and SMS consent when you check the unchecked SMS box on the staff-alerts page at /staff. That program is internal staff operational texts only — not public subscribers, not the morning edition list. The morning list at /florida/subscribe is email-only and does not enroll you in texts.
- Account data: if you are staff, we store an authentication session from Supabase Auth.
- Automatic data: standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages viewed) and, if you install the PWA, a service worker cache on your device.
- We do not require an account to read the edition, the Florida desk, the public /staff staff-alerts page, this Privacy Policy, or the Terms.
3. How we use information
We use information to:
- Deliver the Florida edition you asked for by email.
- Send internal operational staff-alert texts you asked for by checking the SMS box on /staff.
- Honor STOP, HELP, and unsubscribe requests.
- Operate, secure, and debug the website and PWA.
- Keep records of messaging consent as carriers require.
- Contact you about the edition you joined. Each Front Porch edition has its own list; joining Florida does not subscribe you to another state.
4. Front Porch Florida staff alerts — required messaging disclosures
If you check the SMS box on /staff and submit a mobile number, you are joining Front Porch Florida staff alerts. That page is public and does not require a login. The program sends recurring internal operational texts to Front Porch Florida staff only (for example the edition is out, the site is down, HELP replies, and opt-out confirmation). It is not a public subscriber product and not the morning edition list. The morning list at /florida/subscribe is email-only and does not enroll you in texts.
- Message frequency: varies. Typically occasional operational notes from the desk, not more than one (1) message per day, plus HELP or STOP confirmation.
- Message and data rates may apply.
- Opt out: reply STOP to cancel. You may receive one confirmation message. You can also email hello@readfrontporch.com.
- Help: reply HELP or email hello@readfrontporch.com or call (850) 555-7672.
- Consent is obtained through a separate, unchecked checkbox. It is not bundled with these Terms or with using the website.
- Consent is not a condition of reading Front Porch Florida on the web.
5. Mobile information is not shared for marketing
We do not share, sell, or provide your mobile phone number or messaging consent data to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
We may share mobile information only with vendors who send or deliver messages on our behalf (for example our texting provider), and only to operate Front Porch Florida staff alerts for Front Porch Florida. Those vendors are not permitted to use your number for their own marketing. We may also disclose information if required by law, to prevent fraud or abuse, or in a sale of the service where the buyer continues the same program under the same consent.
6. Email
Email opt-in is separate from SMS opt-in. You may unsubscribe from email using the link in any message, at /florida/unsubscribe, or by writing hello@readfrontporch.com. Unsubscribing from email does not automatically opt you out of SMS, and STOP does not automatically cancel email.
7. Cookies, local storage, and the PWA
We use cookies that are necessary for staff login sessions. The public edition does not require cookies. If you install the app, the service worker may cache pages and assets so the porch still opens offline. You can remove the app and clear site data in your browser at any time.
8. How long we keep information
Subscriber records and consent timestamps are kept while you remain opted in and for a reasonable period afterward so we can prove consent, honor suppression, and meet carrier record-keeping rules. Server logs are kept for a short operational window.
9. Your choices and Florida rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the subscriber record we hold, subject to legal retention duties (for example a STOP record). Email hello@readfrontporch.com. If you are a Florida resident, you may also ask how we collect and use personal information and request that we do not sell personal information — we do not sell personal information, including mobile numbers.
10. Children
The edition is a general-audience publication. Front Porch Florida staff alerts is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect mobile numbers from children under 13.
11. Changes
We will post updates on this page with a new effective date. If we materially change how we use mobile numbers, we will ask for SMS consent again where the law or carrier rules require it.
12. Contact
Privacy questions: hello@readfrontporch.com. SMS help: reply HELP. Related terms: Terms of Use & SMS Terms.
