Terms of Use & SMS Terms

These Terms govern your use of Front Porch Florida websites, the Progressive Web App, and Front Porch Florida staff alerts. This page is public. It is never placed behind login, and application middleware is not configured to run on /terms or /privacy.
1. Acceptance
By using the website you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the site or join the messaging program. Reading the edition does not require creating an account.
2. The service
Front Porch Florida publishes a Florida-only edition: news, weather, gas prices, schools, sports, and civic notes. We may change, delay, or skip an edition. Sample or fallback copy may appear when a live edition has not been published. Content is for general information and is not legal, financial, medical, or emergency advice. For weather emergencies, follow the National Hurricane Center and your county emergency office.
3. Front Porch Florida staff alerts (A2P 10DLC program terms)
Front Porch Florida staff alerts is an optional, recurring automated text program from Front Porch Florida / Front Porch News Group. You join only by providing a mobile number and separately checking the SMS consent box on /staff (the box is unchecked by default). That page is public; no login is required. The morning email list at /florida/subscribe is email-only and does not enroll you in texts.
- Program: Front Porch Florida staff alerts
- Description: internal operational texts for Front Porch Florida staff only (edition is out, the site is down, a number needs a look). Not public subscribers. Not the morning edition list.
- Frequency: message frequency varies. Typically occasional operational notes, not more than 1 message per day, plus service messages (opt-in confirmation, HELP, STOP confirmation).
- Message and data rates may apply.
- STOP: reply STOP to cancel. You may receive one additional message confirming you have been unsubscribed.
- HELP: reply HELP or contact hello@readfrontporch.com / (850) 555-7672.
- Supported carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
- You represent that you are the account holder or have permission to enroll the number you submit.
- Consent is not transferred to other brands. We do not share mobile opt-in data with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. See the Privacy Policy.
- Consent to receive texts is not a condition of reading Front Porch Florida on the web.
Messaging consent is separate from acceptance of these Terms. You may accept website terms — by browsing — without joining SMS.
4. Email edition
Email is a separate optional program. Unsubscribing from email does not cancel SMS; STOP does not cancel email.
5. Eligibility and accounts
You must be 18 or older to join Front Porch Florida staff alerts. Staff accounts are issued by the newsroom. You are responsible for the email inbox used to sign in.
6. Acceptable use
Do not misuse the site, scrape in a way that degrades service, attempt to access the newsroom without authorization, or submit phone numbers you do not control. We may remove or ignore submissions that appear fraudulent.
7. Intellectual property
Front Porch names, mastheads, and original edition copy are owned by Front Porch Florida or its licensors. You may share links. You may not republish an entire edition as your own product.
8. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS." WE DISCLAIM WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. We do not warrant uninterrupted delivery of SMS or email. Carrier filtering and device settings can block messages.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Florida law, Front Porch Florida and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data, arising from the site or Front Porch Florida staff alerts. Our total liability for any claim is limited to fifty U.S. dollars ($50). Some limits do not apply where forbidden.
10. Indemnity
You will indemnify Front Porch Florida against claims arising from your misuse of the service or from enrolling a number you do not have the right to enroll.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Venue for disputes that are not subject to a required consumer forum is in Florida state or federal courts.
12. Changes
We may update these Terms by posting a new version on this page. Continued use of the website after the effective date constitutes acceptance. Material changes to the SMS program will be disclosed before we rely on existing consent where required.
